Town Overview

The Town of Kersey Colorado is home to just under 1500 people. It is a close knit agricultural community and home of the Platte Valley School District, one of the most highly sought after school districts in Northern Colorado.

Kersey is conveniently located on U.S. Highway 34, just 6 miles east of Greeley in rapidly growing Weld County.  Situated just east of the foothills of the gorgeous Rocky Mountains & south of the Pawnee Buttes. Kersey is only minutes from all the conveniences found in Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, and is approximately 1 hour from Denver International Airport and the Denver metropolitan area.

Higher Education abounds in Northern Colorado. A slew of colleges and universities, including University of Norhtern Colorado, Colorado State University, Aims Community College, Front Range Community College and Morgan Community College are less than an hour away.

Kersey is a Statutory Town, governed by an elected Mayor and six elected Trustees. Elections are held in April of even numbered years. Board of Trustee meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The town has an active Planning and Zoning Commission that reviews all land use proposals and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The planning commission is made up of the Mayor, three Trustees and three citizens at large who are appointed by the Mayor.  Planning Commission meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Kersey is a full sevice municipality providing 24 hour police coverage, water and sewer services, a library, senior center and recreation department. Please access the department links on this website for more information.

The Town has two new active subdivisions.  Berryman Farm Subdivision has both residential and mixed use commercial zoning in place. The Kohler Farm Subdivision has both residential and industrial components. These two projects will increase the Kersey tax base and encourage future development.
